Photo of the original members of Flotilla 44, then called Flotilla 13. The majority of the members depicted herein volunteered to be Temporary members of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve (Temporary). ALthough volunteers, they were all subject to military law and discipline during World War Two.

Photo, taken in either 1942 or 1944, of the original members of Flotilla 44 (then called 1-3). All are members of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve (Temp).  Members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary were authorized by Congress to volunteer as Temporary Reservists in the U.S. Coast Guard.  The above members helped preserve, protect and defend the rivers and shores of Florida during World War II.
