Advanced Coastal Navigation Course
            Advanced Coastal
      Navigation Program (ACN)

Details: A thirteen (13+) evening program, includes chart reading, radio navigation, fuel and voyage planning, radar, GPS, Loran -- all built around an actual voyage. This program may qualify for boat insurance discount.  

America's Boating Course
          America's Boating Course


Details:  This home study Safe Boating course is designed for those boaters unable to attend a classroom program.   The course is narrated by a virtual instructor, and satisfies Florida's Boating Education requirements.  It may also qualify for boat insurance discount.

ABC Course (Boating Safely)

                (About Boating Safely)

Details:   This 1-day program discusses types of boats, anchoring, docking, rules-of-the-road (federal & state), required equipment, basic navigation, personal watercraft operations, knot tying and safe boat handling.  This program satisfies Florida's Boating Education requirements, and may qualify for boat insurance discount.

Boating Skills & Seamanship Course (6 Lesson)

Details:    Topics include expanded navigation, radio, cruise planning, local and coastal operations, knot tying, plus a more in-depth treatment of the subjects in "Boating Safely."  This program satisfies Florida's Boating Education requirements, and may qualify for boat insurance discount.

Boating Safety & Seamanship (12 Lesson Course)

Details:  An eight evening, 13 lesson, in-depth  program. Topics include expanded navigation, radio, cruise planning, local and coastal operations, knot tying, plus a more in-depth treatment of the subjects in "ABC Course."  This program satisfies Florida's Boating Education requirements, and may qualify for boat insurance discount.

Navigating with G.P.S (Global Positioning System)

Details: Navigating with G.P.S. is an introductory class that is intended to familiarize you with the principals of G.P.S. navigation and basic use of a G.P.S. receiver.  The class is most valuable to students who are able to bring their portable G.P.S. units to class and operate them during a realistic class exercise.  The student without a G.P.S. device will be introduced to a number of different G.P.S. types during the course of the class and will be better prepared for a G.P.S purchase.

This is a three hour program in how to use marine charts to locate precise positions, store the location of positions into the G.P.S. receiver, plan a voyage and actually execute the planned voyage in simulated conditions.

Details:  This program emphasizes sail boating and covers sailboat maneuvering, handling, rigging tuning, piloting, weather, trailering, navigation rules and aids, radio communications, engines, and marlinspike seamanship. Note: This course is not currently scheduled.
Sailing Fundamentals
          Suddenly in Command

Details:  This 3-hour boating safety primer is designed for those not generally at the helm.  It is  focused towards spouses, children and passengers who like to go boating, but do not know how to operate a boat..  This course will help you to "be prepared" with the basics in the event of an emergency.
On the Water Training

Details:  This 4 hour on-the-water program is open to graduates of the Coast Guard Auxiliary's Boating Safely, America's Boating Course or Boating Skills & Seamanship programs.  Participants will be taken aboard a Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel for on-the-water practical applications. Note: This course is not currently scheduled.
